Employment and Organizations
CHARACTER EMPLOYMENT
This page is for players to have their characters create their own businesses, apply for per-existing businesses (character or game owned), join an organization, or an affiliation. Please follow the links below for more information on all of these things as well as access the appropriate forms to fill out.
(Note: There are several tabs for different categories. Tabs are at the bottom.)
Your character will be updated to this list after you have completed the proper form. Any positions in red are singular positions. All other positions may be duplicated infinitely. For example, there can only be one character who is First in Command for the organization F.E.A.R, but there can be however many soldiers or weapons specialists. All red positions are first come, first serve*. If you think a position would fit at a business/organization/affiliation but you do not see it on the master list, please feel free to have your character apply for it anyway.
(*In order to apply for certain positions, you must have earned at least 100 combined bonus points in the game to qualify and it will cost 10 bonus points per month to maintain. These positions are marked as such on the list.)
Characters may have multiple jobs. Just fill out an individual employment form per request.
For Aspiring Student Characters: If your character will be making a living through being a student in Deerington, proceed to the game business section.
Character careers may be updated at any time. All incomes are set by mods except for affiliations and character businesses.
Characters can open businesses, organizations, or create affiliations.
GAME BUSINESSES
Information
Game businesses are locations in the game that already exist that a character could apply to for monetary value. As long as the business is located on the locations page, your character may apply to a job there, even if you don't see it on the master list. This includes careers at Harren Hospital, any of the listed schools, or anywhere else a person may feasibly work at.
Please consider your character's actual background when applying for a job. Characters willingly apply to whatever job they would think to work at.
Apply real world logic. While these characters may not have resumes, it will somehow be known whether or not the character applying for the surgeon job is capable of that job. You can even play it out that your character struggled finding a job if they are the type who might not have a great track record.
Again, characters do not need to work but it would benefit them greatly to do so.
For Students/Teachers: For game business, simply list whatever school your character will be attending/teaching at. Put student as position or what subject your character will be teaching for a teacher. Other school positions such as janitor/cafeteria staff are also applicable.

CHARACTER BUSINESSES
Information
Characters (regardless of age) may open any businesses they want in town. They may have a building built or buy/rent out a building that is not being used. The technicalities behind these functions can be hand waved through the assumption of bank loans unless you are interested in playing the nitty gritty of a character struggling to open their own business.
For further information on your character business, you may fill out a form here or provide a link to the business so it can be added to the Character Businesses list. You do not have to do this.
You set your own character's income as well as the potential employees. It is strongly recommended to have a business page listed in Deerington Post that you can link to in the form below. Feel free to host events with your character's business as well as offer goods and services. Characters can open any business that could be opened in the real world.
If a character is opening a business that supplies outerworld goods, they will have to individually obtain those goods through AC.
This is a very flexible process. You may do this as deeply as you want or as distantly as you want. Characters who own their own businesses can be as successful and wealthy from it as you want or poor and ruined. It is entirely up to you and your interpretation of how your character would do owning a business or how that business would do.
If you are interested in having your character work at a character-created business, please contact the appropriate people to make sure that is okay with them and go over things like income and positions.

ORGANIZATIONS
Information
Organizations are meant to serve the community as a whole without the intention of making money from any of its citizens. Your character may join the preexisting organization, F.E.A.R, or they may create their own organization. Organizations may do things like charity work, investigative work, or anything that proves beneficial to the overall community. Compensation winds up in their bank accounts all the same.
If you are making an organization, it is strongly encouraged that you make a description page for Deerington Post to supply information about your organization. You can run this and organize this however you see fit.
If your character is joining a character-created organization, please make sure to contact the appropriate people to clarify positions and income.

AFFILIATIONS
Information
Characters may want to work individually through freelancing, criminal activity, or join an affiliation of criminals. Criminals will circulate their own money through means outside of traditional obtainment of money in game. Freelance workers, such as artists and the like, will obtain money through their commission work. Anyone can be a freelance anything. Affiliation groups are mostly going to be criminal rings unless someone invents something otherwise.
If you are joining a character created affiliation, please contact the appropriate people to ensure income and positions.
If you are creating an affiliation, it is strongly encouraged that you make an informational page in Deerington Post about it to provide information. You may do this in whatever way you want.
